At our last session on March 15, Sarah Jencks, Deputy Director of History Co:Lab, along with Donna Sack and Jeanne Schultz Angel of Naper Settlement, introduced us to what is possible when museums partner with schools to teach hard history, where local dimensions of national issues are highlighted for the purpose of engendering dialogue. Check out their project, Unvarnished! This session surfaced an important conversation about why people might resist hard history, and the multiple supports that teachers need, most notably historical advocacy tools, professional development, and trusted allies. Again, this is what we are aiming to do through Building Bridges! www.historycolab.org
